How to use the Press Release Schema Generator

NewsArticle vs Article vs PressRelease
Schema.org has multiple article types. NewsArticle is the right choice for any timely, news-style content (announcements, launches, milestones). Article is for evergreen editorial. PressRelease is technically a type but Google primarily recognizes NewsArticle — use it for press releases for maximum compatibility.

Inside the head section of your press release HTML page, between script type application/ld+json tags (already included in the output).
Will Google News pick this up automatically?
Schema makes you eligible. Actual inclusion in Google News requires being approved as a news publisher in Google News Publisher Center. Schema is necessary but not sufficient.
What date format does Google want?
ISO 8601 — either YYYY-MM-DD or full datetime (2026-09-15T10:30:00-04:00). Our tool uses the date-only format which works for most cases.
Should dateModified match datePublished?
Initially yes. When you update the press release later, change dateModified — Google interprets it as recency for News surfaces.
