How to use the Color Palette Extractor

Upload an image. Tool downscales it for fast analysis, then groups pixels into similar-color buckets and ranks by frequency. The 6 most-common colors appear as swatches plus CSS custom properties block.

Why this tool matters

Designers and brand strategists need to match colors to reference imagery. Algorithmic extraction produces objective, repeatable color picks that match the actual dominant colors of the source.

Common use cases

  • Brand color palette from hero imagery
  • Matching website colors to product photography
  • Accent palettes for content
  • Auditing brand palette in visual content
  • Social media color picks
  • Documenting competitor brand colors

Why we cluster colors into buckets

A photo has thousands of unique pixel colors. To find dominant colors we group similar shades together (rounding RGB to nearest 32) and rank by pixel count. Top 6 groups are the dominant colors.
