How to use the mirror text generator
Type any text in the box. The tool creates two versions as you type. Mirror flips the order and swaps each letter for its closest reflected look-alike, so it reads like text seen in a mirror. Reversed only flips the reading order, and the letters stay normal. Copy whichever you need.
Why mirror text is useful
Mirror text matters when you print on the back of a transparent surface such as a window, glass or plastic film, because the design then reads correctly from the front. Designers also use it as a visual hook on posters and packaging. Reversed text works well for puzzles, escape rooms and brain teasers.
Common use cases
- Window vinyl and storefront decals applied to the inside of the glass
- Transfer paper for t-shirts and tote bags, which must be mirrored before printing
- Tattoo stencils applied face-down
- Vehicle graphics applied to the inside of windows
- Escape room puzzle design
- Mirror writing as an art or design project
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between mirror and reversed?
Mirror flips each letter so it looks like its reflection (for example, b becomes d and R becomes Я). Reversed only changes the order, so the letters still look normal but read from right to left.
Will my t-shirt printer flip the design automatically?
Some heat transfer software mirrors automatically and some does not. Always ask your print provider whether they expect mirrored or unmirrored artwork.
Why do some letters look odd in mirror mode?
Letters such as a, e, g and s have no exact mirror image in Unicode, so the tool uses the closest look-alike. For print work, it is best to flip the final artwork in your design software.
Does it work with other alphabets?
The mirror mapping covers the Latin alphabet and digits. Other scripts are reversed but not mirrored letter by letter.
