Quick date math without a spreadsheet

Pick a start date and an end date to see the exact gap in years, months and days, plus the total number of days, weeks and business days. It is handy for project deadlines, campaign lengths, content anniversaries, customer tenure and contract terms. Leap years and different month lengths are handled for you.

How the count works

By default the calculator counts the days between the two dates, the same way most date functions in spreadsheets do. Tick "Include the end date" when both the first and last day count, for example for a 30-day trial that runs from the 1st to the 30th. Business days count Monday to Friday only and do not remove public holidays, so subtract those yourself for your province or country.

Frequently asked questions

Why are months and years marked as approximate?

Months have 28 to 31 days, so a decimal month count uses the average month length of 30.44 days, and years use 365.25 days. For the exact calendar answer, read the years, months and days row.

Does daylight saving time change the result?

No. The calculator works with whole calendar dates, so clock changes do not add or remove a day.

Can I enter the dates in any order?

Yes. If the end date comes first, the tool swaps them and tells you.
