Why are some letters not converting?
Unicode subscripts only exist for a limited set of letters (mostly a, e, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t, u, v, x). Other letters do not have a subscript form and pass through unchanged.

Will the chemistry formula render correctly in Excel?
Yes for display. Excel treats Unicode subscripts as regular text characters, so the formula appears correctly. For calculations you still need the native subscript formatting feature.

Can screen readers handle subscript characters?
